Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) has contracted with the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) to develop the exams for both the Child Care Administrator License and the Child-Placing Agency Administrator License. TDFPS and UTA are continuing to work together in the administration of the exams. The exams are given via this secure website managed by UTA. Exams are given in a proctored setting at the four Residential Child Care Licensing (RCCL) offices.

Effective immediately, all approved test-takers taking the exam after 11/1/2019, may take the exam any day/time in coordination with the testing appropriate center.


The nonrefundable exam fee is $50 each time you register for an exam. Effective January 1, 2014, you will be expected to pay the exam fee at time of registration to the Professional Development Program via credit card. In the event of a no-show or request to reschedule or transfer, you will forfeit the original fee and be required to submit a new registration with payment of a nonrefundable fee of $50. You have three opportunities to pass the exam. You will not be permitted to take the exam without prior payment of this nonrefundable fee. DFPS will NOT be collecting any fees.
