In this seminar for SSW Department of Field Instruction, you examine the goals and objectives of the UTA Bachelor of Social Work program and Master of Science in Social Work program, and their relationships to field instruction. You will be introduced to and learn how to evaluate students’ demonstration of the ten core competencies and accompanying practice behaviors mandated by the Council on Social Work Education. You also explore ways to facilitate the integration of theory and practice with practicum students. Course content includes field instruction approaches to supervision, student learning needs, and evaluation of student performance. Seminar instructors use a presentation style that combines lecture, small group activities, simulation, and role-playing. New field instructors must attend this training on a one-time basis before supervising a social work student in a UTA field practicum. Classes are restricted in size, so please register EARLY.
